Seventh Day
Christians
Dave Kingston writes: "To the Christian
there are few things in the service of God that give us more pleasure than
baptizing and welcoming a new person into the faith. It's considered a great
blessing to have helped a person to come into the family of God. This week our
little fellowship group in the North East of England baptized 16 year old
Terri-Leigh Riley, the grand-daughter of Joyce King, whom many will know from
Kendal. It's a rare thing these days for anybody to come to the faith, but it's
extra special to welcome young people, as they are the future of the Church.
Talking about Kendal, the Festival of
Tabernacles will once again be held in Stricklandgate Hall in Kendal, Cumbria,
this October from 14th to 21st (21st being the Last Great Day). Services will
begin at 7.30pm on the 13th, and this year we are fortunate to have several new
speakers. Accommodation can range from as little as £12 a night if you are able
to use the YHA, but generally bed & breakfast accommodation is around £28 a
night, and there plenty of places to choose from.
The Lake District is an exciting area.
It's steeped in history, the scenery is breathtaking, and it's easy to get
around, as the public transport system is quite remarkable, considering the
ruggedness of the terrain.
We come together to celebrate this feast
and to worship God and, as commanded, we have a great time fellowshipping and
meeting new people. The Festival of Tabernacles is a window
to the future and the millennial reign of our soon coming King, Jesus Christ.
It's a time to forget about the daily grind and to put aside all the ups and
downs of our usual lives and meet with like minded people. The Bible says that
iron sharpens iron, and Jesus Christ tells us that, when two or more of His
people meet, He will be with them.
Jesus does not take things lightly, and
you can guarantee that at Kendal He will be there.
