Well I thought that last week was amazing
enough when one considered world events. This week hasn’t been a bit
behind! In the light of Bible prophecy
it is only too easy now to see how the final Act could play. The news has been
about how
China is developing
closer links with
Japan,
then the news concerning
China’s
new agreement with
Iraq
regarding oil.
China
is going to be a major buyer. Will anyone else get a look in?China
has for some time now tying up oil supplies and mineral resources all over the world,
and especially in the Middle East and
Africa.
If, as a result of the argument with
Russia over the two enclaves of
South Ossetia and Abkhazia, the EU finds itself with
reduced oil and natural gas supplies, it could easily trigger the events that
could result in nuclear war. The mass circulation newspapers are now beginning
to talk in these terms.
As these things are so, and as they develop, we need
to be asking ourselves the question as to how close we are to God.And how close is God to us. How real is He in
our minds and in our lives. The apostle Paul clearly tells the Philippians, and
by extension, all of us, that His mind is to be in us. If we will allow it,
God’s mind within us will direct our thinking, our motives for doing or
thinking what we do, our relationships with others, our reactions. As a
suggestion we need to take time to meditate upon God as indeed our Father. One
who is as close to us as we want Him to be. One whose presence we can be conscious of if we want it and will allow it. Can
we feel His presence?
As we see prophecy coming to pass in the pages of our daily newspapers, the
weekly magazines, and through news broadcasts, it is important that we are
urgent in developing and maintaining our relationship with the Father. Jesus
Christ is our Saviour and our model, but it is the Father’s mind we need within
us.
